cosmetic changes
jeanine lobell, creator of stila cosmetics, appeared at south park mall in charlotte today, and since amanda had booked a makeover session with her people, we attended.
amanda told her boss that she was going to greensboro and introduced me. i told her of my recent acceptance into graduate school, when she asked if i currently go to unc-greensboro. she asked what are you going to do there? i began to pronounce creative writing, but she interrupted: no, not you, her, meaning she wanted to know what amanda was planning to do in greensboro. sure, she was looking in amanda's direction when she asked the question, but we were in the middle of a conversation (amanda was looking elsewhere at the time). i even apologized for misunderstanding. she also commanded me to take amanda to two thrift stores in greensboro. little does she know, i'm not the one driving.
while i waited for them to apply her new face (which, honestly, showed little deviation from her old face), i read half of naguib mahfouz's the day the leader was killed, which depicts an egypt, before sadat's assassination, caught between contemporary and traditional ideals. about economic liberation which increases the disparities between the rich and poor and creates further hardships because its repercussions aren't planned in advance. (it would be interesting to see how many people clicked on the book link compared to those that clicked on the link for stila.)
in conclusion, i dislike makeup. still.
